What is the minimum criteria before a Youtube Channel can start showing ads ?

It was previous 10,000 video views, Now it is 1000 subscribers and 4000 video viewing hours in a year. Read this article to know more.

Implication is that it's not just about your life time views, it is about your RECENT loyalty (4000 viewing hours pre-conditon) which means you have to be producing content regularly. And it's viewing hours and not views which means that if people 'view' your videos (because of a nice sounding video title) and immediately shut it, that's not going to translate into viewing hours.
